Ajarn Samai Mesamarn.(Poo Kru). The grand master of Buddhai Swan Institute.
Por Kru was born on the 5th May of 1914 in Tambon Bang Thani in Ayutthaya. When
he was young, he practiced a lot of Muay Thai as well as Krabi-Krabong and
Judo. His family lineage is that he is a direct descendant of true warriors and nobleman
that in the early history of Siam defended the royal family.
While he was young Por kru worked for The Pim Thai news paper,he was a
photographer. After World War II Por Kru works with underground groups to push
back the Japanese occupation.
Por Kru was a very gifted person. He was very humble, respectful and at the same
time direct and firm. These are the tools that helped him afterwards to become one
of the best Krabi-Krabong teachers today in the World.
In 1956 came to him the "idea", that, would change his life and the others
forever. He decided to build one school of Thai Martial Arts. He decided to
make a replica of the old Wat Buddhai Swan of Ayuthaya
The problem was the money, but because his spirit, he soon worked out in his mind how
he was going to do it. He walked for hours until he found a place, nothing was
there but a small river, the smell of the air was clean and aromatic. There was also a
lot of space to cut and build the fortress and the weapons. The journey had just begun...
With a lot of determination and patience Por Kru made the weapons. Soon people
from the nearby districts start to talk about him and his project. People
started to help him to build and also started to study with him. Soon (within the same year) the King of Thailand heard about the magnificent school and
went there to give to Por Kru support and also the King give him an award. One
year later, in 1957, the Ministry of Education went to the school to give the
legal permission to teach and spread Krabi-Krabong to Thai people.
The police, the army, the King's bodyguard all went to study with Por Kru at his
school. Many of the masters in Krabi-Krabong today, studied under him.
Since then, year by year, Por Kru became more and more popular, first nationally
and now internationally. It was clear that a man with this charisma and
knowledge could not be ignored.
In 1998, Ajarn at the age of 84 died by natural death. He left to the new
generations the recompilations and work of his whole life.
Thank you Por Kru.
All we miss you Ajarn. You rest in peace, and we will do the work how we
promise you.
