The Muaythai Online British Muaythai Awards
Best British Newcomer of The Year


This award is for a fighter that wasn't top 10 ranked in the British rankings before 2007.

This is a new initative by Muaythai Online to recognise what the cream of British Muaythai have produced this year.

Voting takes place on Muaythai Online with the public deciding who will be recognised as each winner.


Nominations were open for the last two weeks and the following nominations have been successful:

Christi Campbell (Saints)
Christi Campbell, from Saints Plymouth, is fighting people far senior having just turned 15 years old.
Csmpbell started off the year in February by knocking out Natasha Gold of 3D Gym Reading with a spectacular high kick. In May 2007 Christ Campbell beat Sophie Bpowyer on points in Altrincham. Then on July 14th they rematched with Campbell again the winner on points.
On 19th August Campbell beat Cara Nodwell on points.
Campbell then fought Ruth Ashdown on 7th October losing a close contest on points.
Her next fight was thena points win over Debbie Mulloch (Sitnarong Stoke) on points.
Campbell then stepped in on short notice to beat American Victoria Beltran by 5th round TKO to win the WIKBA Junior Intercontinental Champion.
She finished 2007 on an incredible high winning the WPMF world title on points under full thai rules against Outi Louhimo from Finland.

Phil Pullen, from Shin Kick Woking, burst onto the UK scene in 2007 having 8 fights
His first fight of the year he lost a points decision to Liam Robinson
He then beat Darren Balshaw from Diablo Gym on points.
Next he went up against the highly rated James France from Bad Company losing on points
He then was in Thailand training and had 3 fights at Bangla STadium in Phuket winning by 5th round TKO, 1st round KO and then 4th round TKO.
Every fight Phil had in 2007 was under Full Thai Rules.
Then in December he stopped Jay Woodham from Mungkorn Dam in the second round in one of the most exciting fights of the year.

Dean Wheatley
Dean Wheatley (Keddles)
Dean Wheatley, from Keddles Orpington, has successfully made the transition to B-class in 2007 and is expected to be a top A class fighter in 2008.
Incredibly stylish for someone just turned 18 Wheatley is expected to really shake up the 57 kilo division this year.
He finished off the year beating Will Hedger.
