K1-UK Battle Of Britain
(Kickfighing Films)
Tape review by SDJ
Every one who's anyone has heard of the K1 contest, which is massive in both America and Japan. Until now (or rather when this video was made) this explosive, action packed show has been contained to far off shores. Now, however, we are being treated to our very own K1-UK. This is a video of the first ever K1-UK that was held in the Aston Villa Hall in Birmingham, by Showsport UK and in conjunction with the K1 organisation.
The show features some of the biggest people (quite literally!) in Muay Thai in this country. The full line up includes Mark Russell, Shaun Johnson, John Wyatt, Ricky Nicholson, Matt Skelton, Duncan Airlie James, Wayne Turner and Gary Turner. The video is as well presented as any, with clear picture and sound. My only reservation being the commentators. Now this is nothing important, more just personal taste, but I didn't know who they were (one sounded like Dean from Big Brother) and they kept referring to punching, kneeing or kicking as 'tagging his opponent', which got on my nerves!
There is again, no point in telling you the outcome of the fights as this will defeat the purpose of buying the video, but they are all well worth watching. The only fight I will comment on is the first bout, between Matt Skelton and Gary Turner. This fight is a credit to Gary who gives away 25kg to his much much larger opponent and never once quits or stops smiling!
Other high points of the video are the two demonstrations by Chloe Bruce. Chloe is the World Musical forms Champion. For those of you that have seen her then you know very well what I mean when I say "Strewth!" I saw Chloe live at the K1- UK Global Heats and here on the video you don't lose any of the quality of her demonstrations! This girl can kick - it has to be seen to be appreciated. There is one more demonstration, just before the Grand Final, featuring Lee Hasdell and anther fighter, who I cant remember the name of in a K1 rules bout.
So all in all, a good video, well presented, good quality visuals and sound and good quality fights make this a worth while addition to your collection. I can't really say anything apart from it is well worth buying and it is in stock now here on Muaythai Online.
