Warrior Master Class,
Muay Thai Training 2.
(Kick Fighting Films)
Tape review by SDJ
This is the second training tape featuring one of the greats of Muay Thai, Master Sken. As well as Master Sken showing us what makes him one of the best there is, we are treated to displays by Sot Chitalada (World Muay Thai/Boxing Champion), Howard Brown, Sandy Holt and many more. Commentary is by Sandy Holt who also performs the majority of the pad work. This video is a mix of old footage taken from Master Sken's classes and a new voice over. The video shows us all aspects of pad work, punches, elbows, knees and kicks all performed with amazing skill and power by Master Sken and Sandy Holt as well as the students of the class. If you look very closely you may even see some of the leading Muay Thai exponents of Britain in their early years! One of the most amazing sections in this video is when one of the students shows a variety of strikes on the pads with Master Sken getting knocked off balance on a couple of occasions, the amazing thing though is the student is only four years old! He performs spinning hook kicks and a variety of other strikes with such skill you can't help but smile and watch in amazement.
Other sections of the video show us World Muay Thai and Boxing Champion Sot Chitalada working out on the heavy bag, shadow sparring, exercises and free sparring. He is indeed another great and his speed and power has to be seen to be fully appreciated. The ease, with which he moves around the ring, demonstrating some of the best footwork I have ever seen is again absolutely amazing. He goes through a series of advanced work outs which should only be attempted by the more experienced exponent but are still well worth watching as it gives less experienced people something to aim for.
There is no fixed structure to this video, rather a collection of footage shot in Master Sken's lessons and with the visiting guests, with a new voice over. However, I still enjoyed it, as it shows us the greats of Muay Thai in this country at an early age. The speed power and grace of Master Sken at work is a good enough selling point for me and coupled with all the other greats doing what they do best, you can't really say no! It is not the best instructional video (if that is what you are after then turn to Mr. Holt's training tape) but it does showcase some fine exponents of the art.
