Bad Company Fight Night, Town Hall, Leeds 7th April

This was a promotion by Bad Company Gym in association with Showsport International, featuring many of the local gyms fighters. The main events were Richard Smith (the Bad Company instructor) defending his WAKO-pro European title against Nordine Hammoumi of France and Trix March (Wicker Camp, Sheffield) fighting for a WAKO-pro world title against Anita Groeneboom of Holland.

Junior Title Defence: Jordan Watson vs Tomas McOrmack

Jordan Watson (Bad Company, Champion) VS Thomas McOrmack (Wicker Camp, Sheffield) 5x1.5mins

The first fight of the evening was Jordan Watson's ITKBA Junior Title Defence, fought with no head contact and body pads. The bell went and both lads came running at each other with low kicks. The smaller but stockier Watson used his footwork well to let McCormack slip to the floor. The fighter then went into a clinch with MocCormack turning Watson round and throwing him to the floor. Watson tired to keep circling his opponent exchanging low kicks with McCormack preferring to clinch and throw. The round ended with Watson catching McCormacks leg and dropping him to the floor.







Rnd 2 : This round started with a good right cross, left hook to the body, right low kick combination by MoCormack. Watson replied with a low kick and then a right cross. There then followed an exchange of low kicks finished by McCormack landing a right cross. Watson then caught McCormacks kick and there followed a high-paced exchange of low kicks. Watson the scored with a nice low kick having parried McCormack's teep.


Rnd 3: This was a high paced round with Watson opening with a left low kick and then a right. McCormack replied with a nice teep which was followed well by a running low kick. There was then a flurry of low kicks by both fighters before they then went into the clinch both turning the other and throwing knees. there then followed a brief exchange of kicks before McCormack landed another right cross and the fighters closed the distance to clinch. McCormack then landed a strong running low kick followed by a body kick which Watson caught and used to drop McCormack.

Rnd 4 : This round started with a strong left body kick by McCormack before going into the clinch. Coming out of the clinch McCormack landed a good right cross. There then followed another exchange of low kicks and a period of clinching. Watson's kick was then caught by MCCormack who used it to push Watson back. His follow-up low kick missed however and then Watson took the opportunity to land a strong low kick. There then followed some more clinching with both fighters landing some nice knees. McCormack missed with a stepping in right cross to end the round.


Rnd 5: A strong exchange of kicks opened the final round, before a good turn and throw by Watson. Watson then twice caught McCormacks kicks and landed an left inside low in reply. Watson then landed an accidental head kick to McCormack's annoyance, which he replied to with a low kick and a strong right cross. Watson's replying body kick was then caught by McCormack who used a right cross to put Watson to the floor. There was then a fast paced exchange of low kicks and crosses to end the fight.
Decision for this fast paced fight: DRAW. To his credit Watson handed one of his title belts to the disappointed McCormack.










Mark Kimberley vs Carl Jason

Mark Kimberley - SIMTA, Bradford VS Carl Jason - Knuckles, Oldham
Rnd 1 : The fight opened with a left inside low kick by Kimberley to which Jason replied to with some scrappy punches that were strong but inaccurate. There then followed a flurry of knees and kicks after a right cross put Jason in trouble. Jason recovered and came in with a good 1,2 right low kick combination, followed by a furious exchange of straight punches by both fighters that tJason came out in top of. Kimberley however replied well twice with the same 1,2 low kick combination to finish the round.



Rnd 2 : Kimberley again opened the round with a left inside low, to which Jason replied with lots of straight punches. Jason now had a bleeding lip form one of the early punches and Kimberley scored well to finish the round with a jab.



Rnd 3: Both fighters threw some wild punches at the start of this round with both eager to win. Kimberley landed a good low kick before a spell of clinching before an exchange of low kicks. Kimberley attempted a high kick which Jason blocked but then came in punching and caught Jason with a rolling left hook. There was then some more boxing form both fighters followed y some clinching and straight knees to finish the fight.
Majority Decision: DRAW








Mark Lee vs Darryl Smith

Mark Lee - Bad Company, Leeds VS Darryl Smith - Golden Bear, Leeds
Rnd 1 : Lee opened with a low kick which missed. However he then caught Smith's replying body kick and dropped him to the canvas. Lee preferred to throw punches whilst Smith was scoring with low kicks. The fighters then went into the clinch for an exchange of knees. the pace then picked up with a fast exchange and a run and clinch which actually resulted in Smith being pushed over the ropes. Again Smith was scoring with low kicks whilst Lee preferred to box, scoring well with a left hook, right cross combination.









Rnd 2 : Lee opened the round circling and scoring with low kicks. Smith shut down the space to kick and then catch and drop Lee. Lee replied with left and right low kicks. Smith then missed with a high kick to which Lee replied with a strong low kick followed by a 1,2 left high kick combination. Smith replied with a low kick before having his body kick caught by Lee. Lee finished the round missing with a high kick and his leg was red from the continual low kicks form Smith at the start of the round.









Rnd 3: Again Lee was the first to score with low kicks before going into the clinch and performing lots of side knees to Smith's thigh, breaking apart Smith scored with a low kick before again going into the clinch. Lee then continued to score well with a 1,2 low kick combination followed shortly by a long knee. There was then a brief clinch and Lee missed with a high kick before again clinching and again having his high kick blocked.

Unanimous Decision to Mark Lee.







David Riley vs Paul Young

David Riley - Stepping Razor, Leeds VS Paul Young - Dragons, Maryport
Rnd 1 : this fight started with some hard right body kicks exchanged. A strong early jab by Riley then gave Young an eight count. Riley came back in using some nice footwork to continue to apply the pressure with some strong kicks. A 1,2 straight punch then gave Young a nine count. Riley came back in fast punching and throwing body kicks before a right cross put Young to the floor for the referee to stop the fight.

Liam Harrison vs Yousef Abubacar

Liam Harrison - Bad Company, Leeds VS Yousef Abubacar - Mungsarin, Bradford
Rnd 1 : Abubacar was a late replacement for Harrison's original opponent Michael Anderson. Harrison opened with a right high kick that was blocked, but then followed up with a jab and two right crosses before going into the clinch and Harrison landing another right cross. Harrison the threw Abubacar to the floor twice before scoring with a low kick. The fighters then clinched against the ropes and Harrison then continued to score well with a kick and long knee. Harrison then dropped Abubacar with a low kick for a count. Abubacar then retired himself from the fight.




1st round TKO to Liam Harrison.











Vacant ISKA 61kg British Title: Simon Mangeouls vs Neil Parry

Simon Mangeouls - SIMTA, Bradford VS Neil Parry - Thomas Muay Thai, Wales 5 x 3 full Thai Rules
Rnd 1: Parry opened the fight with a left inside low, Mangeouls replying low kicks missing. Mangeouls then landed a left body kick, Parry replying with a right low, blocking Mangeouls kick and then scoring with a right low kick again. Mangeouls again had his kick blocked, this time one to the body and Parry again got in a right low kick. Mangeouls then scored with a left body kick and then clinched and turned Parry, scoring with a left knee. there was then a wary exchange of punches between the fighters followed by an exchange of low kicks. Both fighters were very wary of each other as it was full Thai rules. The round finished with Mangeouls missing with a spinning elbow.


Rnd 2: Mangeouls missed with a low kick for Parry then to push him back nicely with a front leg teep. Mangeouls replied with a right low kick followed up by a strong body kick and then a left low kick. Mangeouls then went on the attack against Parry with a cross, hook, cross, low kick combination but Parry appeared untroubled. Mangeouls then scored with a left body kick whilst Parry tired to come in to shut down the space to score with the elbow. The fighters then went into the clinch with Mangeouls scoring with a weak elbow to the side of Parry's head. This unsettled Parry a little. Mangeouls again looked to shut down the space to clinch and score with elbows, landing one and looking to with more. Breaking out of the clinch Parry scored with a left body kick and blocking Mangeouls attempted high kick. Mangeouls tried to score again with left elbows but missed. The round ended with Mangeouls scoring with a low kick and Parry replying with a right cross.


Rnd 3: Mangeouls opened the round with a high kick that was blocked and Parry replied with a right uppercut following by a number of knees in the clinch. Mangeouls reply to this was to score with some weak axe elbows . Coming out of the clinch Mangeouls scored with a left body kick and was again looking to get inside with the elbow. Parry replied with a jab. Mangeouls then scored well with two right elbows followed by a left knee. He then looked for the knockout with a right over the top punch that Parry blocked by covering up. Mangeouls still continued to press again landing 2 right elbows and then getting through with a left knee to the head that put Parry down for an eight count. There then followed some scrappy clinching with Parry under pressure but blocking most of what Mangeouls threw against him. The round ended with Parry blocking a left high kick.
Rnd 4: Parry opened with a left jab, blocking Mangeouls right low kick and scoring with a right low kick of his own. Mangeouls then landed a 1, 2 left hook combination to which Parry replied with a low kick. Mangeouls then landed a hard left knee and followed it up with a left body kick, right elbow left knee which was enough to drop Parry and end the fight.
British Title win to Simon Mangeouls.









WAKO-pro European Title Fight: Richard Smith vs Nordine Hammoumi

Richard Smith - Bad Company, Leeds, Current Champion VS Nordine Hammoumi - France
This fight was under WAKO-pro with knees but no elbows to the head. Rnd 1 : The fight opened with a short exchange of kicks. Hammoumi then unleashed a barrage of punches, a couple of which caught Smith and unsettled him for the rest of the round. The fighters then went into the clinch for an exchange of knees. Smith then scored with a jab followed by a 1,2 low kick combination. Hammoumi then landed another left hook followed by a 1,2 low kick and then another right hook going through. The fighter then went into the clinch with Smith landing a left side knee. Hammoumi then scored again with a 1,2 straight punch. Smith replied with a low kick and Hammoumi missed with a left high kick to end the round.









Rnd 2 : Smith opened the round with a right high kick that was blocked. There then followed an exchange of body kicks before going into the clinch. Smith then scored with a jab and then again with a right body kick. Smith was then cut by another one of Hammoumi's punches, his replying kick being caught. Smith then scored with a right body kick and then a straight punch before the fighters went into the clinch again. Smith's left high kick was then blocked and Hammoumi's left kick went through Smith's guard. Hammoumi followed up with a left high kick, right cross before going into the clinch for an exchange of knees to finish the round.








Rnd 3: Smith again attacked first to open the round with a right cross, Hammoumi replying with a right low kick. Smith scored with a jab that pushed Hammoumi back to the delight of the crowd. The fighters then went into the clinch with Smith scoring with a left knee. Coming out of the clinchSmith's low kick was blocked but Hammoumi's follow up punches failed to land. Hammoumi then scored with a low kick, Smith replying with left knees. Hammoumoi then landed a right hook which Smith answered with a left straight punch. Hammoumi then got in with a right cross to which Smith replied with a right low kick and then a left body kick which initiated an exchange of body kicks. Hammoumi then scored points with a jab and a right hook followed by catching Smith's replying kick and then scoring with a left high before catching Smith's kick again to end the round.




Rnd 4: This round opened with the fighters exchanging left high kicks. Hammoumi then came in with another barrage of hooks but only one scored. Smith then scored with a right low kick before the fighters went into the clinch. Smith then scored well with a left body kick followed by a right cross. Hammoumi replied with a right low kick and Smith stepped in well to catch him with a right cross. They then went into the clinch again and exchanged low kicks coming out and then back into the clinch as the fighters started to tire. They then both tried to land punches before Smith scored with a left body kick followed by a right cross. He then blocked two attempted right high kicks and scored again with a right body kick. Hammoumi was the last to score in the round with a jab.





Rnd 5: Smith opened with a jab that scored but the following right body kick was caught by Hammoumi. The fighter then exchanged left body kicks before Smith scored well with a left low kick. Hammoumi then landed a left hook followed by a right cross which pushed Smith back. The fighters then had a spell in the clinch. After breaking apart Smith landed a right low kick and Hammoumi replied with left high kick that was blocked by Smith. A jab from Smith that pushed Hammoumi back caused the local crowd to roar with delight. Smith again landed a jab and then again a right cross, dodging Hammoumi's hooks. Smith then scored with a left high kick before the fighters went into the clinch. Smith then scored with a left body hook and then stepped away form Hammoumi's high kick with his hands down.He then scored with a left high kick before blocking Hammoumi's left body kick to end the fight.

Majority decision to Nordine Hammoumi, the new European Champion.























Vacant WAKO-pro 67Kg world title: Trix March vs Anita Groeneboom

Trix March - Wicker Camp, Sheffield VS Anita Groeneboom - Holland 5 x 2 muaythai



Rnd 1 : The fight opened with an exchange of low kicks then the fighters went into the clinch with both throwing some good side knees. They then exchanged low kicks before Groeneboom landed a right hook before going into the clinch again. Groeneboom then scored with a low kick and March replied with the same move. March then landed a left inside low kick before they went back into the clinch to exchange knees. The round ended with March scoring a good right knee in the clinch.






Rnd 2 : The round started with a low kick by March, Groeneboom replying with a 1,2 straight punch combination, the fighters then going into the clinch, March then scored well with a right cross, left hook, right body kick, right cross combination. Groeneboom replied with a low kick and MArch answered with the same move followed by a teep and then another exchange of low kicks. March then landed a right cross, left hook combination. Groeneboom again answered with a right body kick, March answering in return with a right low kick. March then landed a right knee but had her follow up kick blocked.March scored again with a 1,2 low kick combination but Groeneboom was the last to score with a right low kick.








Rnd 3: Groeneboom started this round on the attack with straight punches and MArch replying with a low kick and right cross. After circling each other March scored again with a right cross that pushed Groeneboom's head back and then went into the clinch. March then landed a right body kick before going into the clinch again and scoring with some good left knees. Groeneboom's replying punches missing. March then got a left inside low kick in before clinching and throwing Groeneboom. There then followed an exchange of kicks before March landed another right cross before a spell of clinching ended the round.







Rnd 4: March scored first this round with a right low kick. Groeneboom replied with a right cross before both fighters went into the clinch. coming out of the clinchMarch scored with a right low kick and then followed up with an even stronger kick. The fighter then went into the clinch until March threw Groeneboom to the floor. Groeneboom returned to her feet and caught March with a right cross. March circled and retaliated with a right hook. There was then a clash of legs as both fighters landed low kicks at the same time. March's low kick was then blocked and the fighters went into the clinch. They came out of the clinch briefly for Groeneboom to score with a 1,2 straight punch and then went back into the clinch to end the round.







Rnd 5: March's opening low kick was blocked by Groeneboom and both fighters circled each other warily as they were getting tired. March scored with a right cross and Groeneboom replied with the exact same move. There then followed an exchange of low kicks before March stepped in and turned and threw Groeneboom. Groeneboom replied with a right low kick and then a left. The fighters circled again and then Groeneboom stepped in with a right cross followed by a teep. The fighters then went into the clinch with Groeneboom landing a right knee. March responded by landing a left knee and turning and throwing Groeneboom. march then went on the attack scoring with a right body kick and a right cross. The round finished with March landing a teep followed by a right body kick.
Unanimous Decision to Trix March the new world champion.
