New Legends Part IV

This was the penultimate event in the New Legends series, promoted by Heavyhitters Gym and Showsport International. The aim of theses events was to showcase some of the upcoming under 25 talent in the country. Part IV was featuring the likes of Neil Woods, Kieran Keddle, Steve Scott, Warren Brown and Richard Lewis. the headlining event was Warren Brown (WAKO World Lightwelterweight Champion) vs Kieran Keddle (British Champion) in what was already a hotly debated contest (see the guestbook).
Unfortunately many disappointed fans were informed at the start of the event that Neil Woods opponent Steve Scott hadn't showed up and therefore the fight was cancelled. Though many fans were appeased with what was a cracking final fight of the evening.....

The referee for the main fights of the evening was John Blackledge.






John Mitchell vs Carl Lofthouse

John Mitchell (Wrexham) VS Carl Lofthouse (Bradford SIMTA) 3x1.5mins

The first fight of the evening opened with Mitchell starting with a running front kick, but Lofthouse appeared on top at the start of the round. However he was then dropped by a left hook but came back strong to finish the round.










Rnd 2 : This round started with Mitchell landing a good low kick though the pace of the round was quite slow.


Rnd 3 : This round started with Lofthouse landing some good low kicks but then a big left by Mitchell followed by a low kick put Lofthouse back on the floor. Majority decision to John Mitchell!










Lee Lewinski vs Danny Harris

Lee Lewinski - Kaobon, Liverpool VS Danny Harris - Lumpini, kent
Rnd 1 : This fight started at a high pace with a left low kick by Lewinski, and a good right low kick in reply by Harris. there was a small slip by Lee as he came out of the clinch but there was a good exchange of jabs and low kicks to end the round.







Rnd 2 : Lewinski started with a nice 1,2 left low kick combination. Followed by a left hook, left low kick which resulted in the first count for Harris. As he got up Lewinski came straight back in with a 1,2 left low kick, left hook combination. He then unleashed a barrage of punches on Harris to end the round.






Rnd 3: This round started with a another left low kick by Lewinski that forced Harris into the corner where Lewinski unleashed a barrage of straight punches and low kicks that caused the referee to decide to stop the fight though Sean Toomey insisted that Harris could have continued

TKO to Lee Lewinski.







Tam Trongsongmoon vs Rob Storrey

Tam Trongsongmoon - Heavyhitters Gym, Chester VS Rob Storrey - Keddles, Kent
Rnd 1 : Tam opened with a body kick that this caught by Storrey who replied with a low kick to drop him. Storry again caught Tams kick and then used a hack to sweep him to the floor. This was followed by a good exchange of low kicks and then the fighters went into the clinch to end the round.









Rnd 2 : This round started with a nice teep by Tam, however his follow up high kick was caught by Storrey to throw Tam to the canvas. The fighters then went into the clinch for a brief exchange of knees that ended when Storrey threw Tam to the canvas. Tam got straight back up to throw a high kick that Storrey blocked, but then land3ed a nice low kick. The round ended with a catch and drop from Storrey.







Rnd 3: This was a slower round with both fighters quite tired and going into the clinch a lot

Unanimous Decision to Rob Storrey.







Kevin Kipling vs Aaron Holmes

Kevin Kipling - Heavyhitters Gym, Chester VS Aaron Holmes - Keddles, Kent
Rnd 1 : this fight started at a cracking high pace with both fighters echanging strong punches and low kicks, followed by knees in the clinch. Breaking out of the clinch both fighters exchanged low kicks blow for blow and then went into a clinch in the corner. Coming out of the corner Holmes landed a nice right hook, left hook, right hook combination to put Kipling down for the count.

Spencer Wilding vs Andre Fraser

Spencer Wilding - Heavyhitters Gym, Chester VS Andre "the beast" Fraser - Trinidad and Tobago 3x2 kickboxing
Rnd 1 : The first round was dominated by Wilding using his range (he had a one foot height advantage, though they were the same weight class) to keep Fraser at bay. Fraser landed some nice low kicks though but each was replied to with a similar kick by Wilding. Wilding tried an ambitious spinning hook kick that only narrowly missed connecting and continued to use his range to keep Fraser at bay, though he did land some nice body shots.









Rnd 2 : The second round continued with Wilding still using his range to keep Fraser at bay. Fraser tried a spinning kick that missed and was punished for it by a low kick by Wilding that made a loud cracking noise when it landed. Wilding then landed a kick to the groin which resulted in a lengthy timeout. After the timeout Wilding ended the round with some strong straight punches and a nice exchange of low kicks.



Rnd 3: This round started with more low kicks and then there was a another timeout. A left high kick by Wilding nearly went through Fraser's guard and then his follow up left side kick pushed Fraser back.
Unanimous Decision to Spencer Wilding.











Shaun Johnson vs Steve Spiers

Shaun Johnson - Wigan VS Steve Spiers - Liverpool Kickboxing 5x2 kickboxing
Rnd 1: Johnson looked much more significantly fitter and toned than in his last fight at Birmingham. Johnson started landing a good low kick, followed by high kicks by both fighters that each blocked. A left hook, right low kick followed by another low kick dropped Spiers for a count. He got back to his feet but it wasn't long before Johnson used another low kick to win a count. Back on his feet a final hard low kick from Johnson gave the referee no option but to stop the bout.















1st round TKO to Shaun Johnson.









ISKA British Title Fight: Butch vs Simon Mangeolles

Butch - Sor Chana, Preston VS Simon Mangeolles - SIMTA, Bradford
Rnd 1 : Butch opened the fight with 2 good low kicks, and Mangeolles replied with one and then a 1,2 low kick combination. butch came back with three god low kicks, which Mangeolles answered with a low kick, jab low kick combination. Butch then attacked with more low kicks and Mangeolles then went on the attack with some boxing that failed to penetrate Butch's guard to finish the round,









Rnd 2 : The second round started with a right low, left high kick by Mangeolles, Butch came back with some low kicks, blocking Mangeolles high kick on his forearms. The pace then started to pick up with a low kick by Mangeolles and a running low kick by Butch to build up to some furious hard boxing by both fighters. The round ended with further low kicks being exchanged.








Rnd 3: Mangeolles opened with a low kick followed by a high kick that went through Butch's guard to drop him for the count.

KO 3rd round to Simon Mangeolles.
The title won by Mangeolles will be defended against Neil Parry in April.













Jussy Lowe vs Florence De La Rouche

Jussy Lowe - UKMTA, Bolton VS Florence De La Rouche - France 5x2 muaythai
This bout was being filmed for a documentary about female fighters called "Gladiators" which will be shown in several countries and on Channel 4 in the UK in April.








Rnd 1 : Lowe started the fight with a left low kick, and then bulldozed De La Rouche into the corner with some straight punches. De La Rouche replied with a right low kick and then a body kick that Lowe caught to drop De La Rouche to the canvas. Lowe then landed a nice left low kick and followed up with some boxing before going into the clinch to finish the round.






Rnd 2 : The round started with a high kick by De La Rouche that narrowly missed. Lowe then came at her running and throwing punches until De La Rouche was forced back into the corner for an exchange of hopping side knees in the clinch. Coming out of the clinch De La Rouche threw a body kick which Lowe caught well to throw her to the canvas. Upon getting up De La Rouche received a hard running left low kick from Lowe and then her replying kick was again caught to result in her being thrown to the canvas. Lowe then pushed her back with a teep and caught De La Rouche's replying kick once more. De La Rouche got on her feet and landed a nice teep before being bulldozed back by Lowe.








Rnd 3: De La Rouche opened the round with some nice low kicks but then her body kick was caught by Lowe again. The fighters then went into the clinch in the corner with some good knees by Lowe landing hard and consistently on De La Rouche up against the ropes. Coming out of the clinch De La Rouche replied with a 1,2 right hook combination, before both fighters went into the grapple. The round ended with some tired boxing against the ropes.







Rnd 4: This round opened with a teep by De La Rouche which Lowe answered with a low kick. This was followed by a running low kick by Lowe and some brief grappling. Coming out of the clinch De La Rouche landed a nice low kick, followed by a right hook to the body, right body kick. There was then some more grappling which ended with both fighters on the floor and then some boxing against the ropes as both fighters were tiring and a short spell of grappling which Loew doninated to end the round.







Rnd 5: De La Rouche's opening teep missed to be punished by a left low kick by Lowe which led up to another spell of grappling. Coming out of the clinch Lowe then landed another running low kick and caught De La Rouche's replying kick. There was then an exchange of kicks and further grappling and catching of kicks to end the round.
Unanimous Decision to Jussy Lowe.











Full Thai Rules: Richard Lewis vs Andy Jones

Richard Lewis - SIMTA VS Andy Jones - Sor Chana, Bradford
Rnd 1 : The round started with some right low kicks by Lewis, Jones replied with a body kick that Lewis caught and fired in a low kick. The fighters then spent a while trading and blocking low kicks, until Jones came in with a nice left hook right low kick combination. However his next shot hit Lewis in the groin and there was a short timeout. Lewis got straight back into action with a hard low kick followed swiftly by 1,2 low kick combo. He then caught Jones body kick and threw two right crosses at him. Jones cam back strong however to show he wasn't fazed to finish the round.





Rnd 2 : Lewis started the round with a high kick that missed and Jones returned a left body kick. Lewis then took another shot to the groin. Jones came in with a nice left low kick, blocked Lewis's replying kick and then scored with another. Lewis came back strong however with a right cross, right low kick before taking another knock to the groin. Then as Jones came in with a high kick, Lewis landed an excellent teep to knock him to the floor. Once Jones was back on his feet, Lewis came at him again with a 1,2 right low kick, right teep combination. Jones's left hook then missed Lewis, for Lewis to finish the round with another teep.







Rnd 3: this round started with each fighter blocking the others kicks. Lewis however then scored well with a teep as Jones threw a high kick to put him on the floor, he then did the same move a few moments later. Lewis then scored with a fast 1,2 right low kick combination and Jones replied with a low kick. Lewis then landed a nice left hook, however Jones then came in with 3 hard right body kicks the first two of which landed well. Lewis replied with a right cross and a nice teep followed by an attempted flying punch to finish the round.








Rnd 4: Jones opened this round to score with a right body kick. Lewis replied with a teep to receive a good right low kick by Jones. Jones then followed to score again with another. Lewis then landed a teep to knock Jones to the floor. Once up on his feet Jones shut down the space to grapple. The fighters broke briefly for Lewis to land a low kick before clinching again. There was then an exchange of body and low kicks to finish the round.







Rnd 5: Lewis was landing blows well at the start of this round with a teep and a low kick. Jones came straight back at him however with some good boxing. Lewis then slipped and Jones almost landed a kick whilst he was on the floor. There was then a fast paced exchange of low kicks, knees in the clinch and boxing. Jones then missed with s left high kick whilst Lewis was using his foot work to keep circling round. Jones then shut down the space well to land an excellent open front knee. Lewis replied with a low kick and then the fighters went into the grappling. Lastly Lewis missed with a spinning punch to end the fight..


Majority Decision to Richard Lewis






Full Thai rules: Warren Brown vs Kieran Keddle

Warren Brown - Beastmasters, Altrincham VS Kieran Keddle - Keddles, Kent

This was the fight that many had come to see, there had already been a lot of controversy in the build up (See the guestbook). Both fighters had a large amount of fans with them and there was an electric atmosphere throughout the entire fight with both sections screaming their support. Brown had lost some weight to come in at 67 kilos, the same weight as Keddle. Brown was shorter but stockier, with Keddle looking a lot thinner but a couple of inches taller. What a fight this was.....

Rnd 1 : The fighters opened with light exchange to feel each other out before Brown landed a left jab to the body, followed by a left low kick. The fighters then went into a brief clinch before breaking apart to exchange some low kicks. Brown then tried a high kick that missed but scored with a follow up low kick. They then went in close with an elbow from Keddle narrowly missing. Brown came back at him with some strong boxing that pushed Keddle back but failed to penetrate his guard. the fighters then went into the clinch with both landing some hopping knees but with Brown looking the stronger. Once they'd broke apart Keddle landed a right low kick, but Brown replied with the same move straight away. Keddle then caught Brown's body kick and scored with a low kick. As Brown came in Keddle missed narrowly with an elbow and Brown scored with a nice knee to end the round.

Rnd 2 : Keddle started the round well with two low kicks and then blocked Brown's return left body kick. The fighters then exchanged more kicks before going into the clinch. Whilst in the clinch Keddle landed some ax elbows to Brown's shoulder but he didn't look fazed. The fighters then broke apart and Brown kept Keddle at bay with a teep and then blocked Keddle's replying high kick and scored with a low kick. Keddle then blocked Brown's body kick before going into the clinch to exchange some knees and try and land further elbows. Keddle came out of the clinch with his nose bleeding and Brown too looked like he had been cut. The fighters then clinched some more before breaking and Keddle landing a good low kick and blocking Brown's front knee. The fighters then clinched some more before Keddle ended the round scoring with a left body kick.






Rnd 3: This round began with Brown on the offensive but Keddle blocked all the initial shots and then stepped in to catch him with a right uppercut elbow. Brown then missed with another kick and Keddle came in glose trying to land elbows, the fighters clinched and some weaker ax elbows by Keddle went through to connect with Brown's head. out of the clinch Keddle caught Brown's kick and dropped him to the canvas with a low kick. Brown got straight back up and came in with a hard low kick which started off a fast and furious exchange before Keddle again caught Browns leg and hit him with a low kick. Keddle then tried a jumping downwards elbow before going into the clinch to finish the round.







Rnd 4: Brown opened the round with a high kick that Keddle took on his forearms, Brown followed up though with a nice 1,2 punch before Keddle caught his body kick (that was still damaging) and fired in a low kick. Brown then landed a low kick before going into grapple with a strong knee that landed well. Brown then landed another low kick before grappling. Whilst clinching in the corner Keddle jumped up for his knee to skim Brown's face. Keddle then tried a spinning punch that missed but scored with the following knee, though his high kick missed. Brown then ended a hard and fast fourth round with a left elbow.







Rnd 5: Keddle caught Browns opening body kick and then shut down the space to lead to a hard exchange of knees, both sets of fans screaming their lungs out now in support. Brown threw Keddle back and landed a body kick. Keddle then shut down the space once more to land a nice axe elbow before Brown threw him to the floor. Brown then came in missing with the left elbow as Keddle caught him slightly with the right, both fighters had blood dripping from their noses now, each trying to gain advantage in the clinch before ending up on the floor. Both fighters got back to their feet with Brown landing some body shots before Keddle clinched and then landed a left low kick. Brown replied with 2 left kicks tying to keep Keddle at bay who was looking to come in with the elbow for the knockout. The bell went and the fighters waited for the result....






Unanimous decision to Kieran Keddle!


Once the decision was announced Neil Woods stepped into the ring and challenged Keddle to fight him in March, Keddle accepted - see our news story
