Queens Birthday superfights August 11th

On the 11th of August to celebrate the Queen of Thailand’s birthday Sukonesongchai promotions held a fight card at Sanam Luang featuring some of Muaythai’s biggest names.

Bovy Sor Udomson vs Ronachai Naratrikun
Ronachai gets off to a good start in this fight, mixing up his punches well and scoring with good kicks to the body.Bovy takes his time to get going and starts coming forward trying to open up in the second round. Ronachai moves well though and picks of Bovy with a sharp jab. Bovy keeps the pressureon in round 3, coming forward looking to land with roundkicks to the body and straight right punches. Ronachai has his mark though and keeps moving well scoring with big kicks and knees. Bovy comes forward trying to land with elbows, but can’t seem to find the target. Bovy still keeps coming forward in the 4th, but Ronachai lands with a big roundkick to the body. Bovy manages to get the fight into the clinch now where he has some success. Ronachai comes back though and spins Bovy out of the clinch to the canvas. Bovy gives it his all in an exciting final round, coming forward putting a lot of pressure on Ronachai. Bovy sends Ronachai spinning to the canvas from the clinch and the crowd get behind him as he goes for one last push. Ronachai manages to come back with some good roundkicks though, to take the fight on points.



Anuwat Kaewsamrit vs Thongchai Tor Silachai
This was a battle between two fighters of similar styles who have won virtually every award and title available in Thailand. Thongchai the old master, feared for his hard punching, hard lowkicking style. Anuwat the young star with Dynamite in his punches and no slouch with the lowkick himself. The fight started with Anuwat coming forward banging in hard lowkicks and punches at his smaller opponent. Thongchai prefers to bide his time and soak up the early pressure, saving himself for the later rounds. Anuwat keeps pushing forward in round 2 and Thongchai still keeps a very tight defence and manages to soak up the pressure. Thongchai starts to look to land with his own hard punches but is always wary of the power of Anuwat. Towards the end of the round Anuwat lands with a hard punch that has Thongchai looking to hold on in the clinch to clear his head. Round 3 sees Anuwat keeping the pressure on Thongchai, Thongchai covers up well though and looks to open up himself. Anuwat lands with a solid kick, but Thongchai refuses tobe intimidated and comes in close and looks to punch and knee. In round 4 Thongchai decides its time to step up the pace looking to really open up with punches and knees. Anuwat throws himtothe canvas from the clinch though and scores with some good long knees. Thongchai comes forward again only for Anuwat to shake him up with a big punch. Anuwat goes in for the kill now and opens up with big punches, landing with a fierce uppercut that wobbles Thongchai’s legs. Thongchai covers up now and waits for the bell to sound. Anuwat is along way in front now for the final round and just moves around the ring, staying out of trouble. Thongchai comes forward in an attempt to try and score a knockdown and turn the fight around, but Anuwat is too sharp and keeps him at bay. Anuwat has the opportunity to open up more but decides to just cruise to a points win, in a show of respect for his legendary opponent.



NongB Kiatyongyuth vs Puja Sor Suwanee
This is the fourth fight between these two, with Puja winning two previous encounters and the other fight a draw.
The first round is fairly even with neither fighter too commited in attack. NongB pushes forward in round two looking to score with roundkicks and also looking to punch. Puja prefers to fight more in a countering style, trying to make NongB miss and then punish him. Round 3 sees the fight move into the clinch with both fighters exchanging knees. Puja gets the better of NongB slightly with the cleaner shots hitting the target. NongB comes back though in round four and gradually gets on top and starts driving in hard knees around the sides of Puja. NongB moves into the final round slightly ahead on the odds from the gamblers at ringside. Puja trys to bring himself back into the fight, but NongB always manages to come back and keep himself in front, taking the fight on points.



Attachai Nor Sripung vs Yodbuangarm Lukbanyai
This was an eagerly awaited fight between two supreme Muaythai stylists. Attachai coming of a win against Anuwat. Attachai started the fight as a slight favorite. Both fighters took their time in the first round, just sizing each other up. In round two Yodbuangarm put the pressure on a little, coming forward looking to score with roundkicks. Attachai showed great skill and timing, spinning Yodbuangarm to the canvas from the clinch. In round 3 Attachai sent Yodbuangarm to the canvas again, but Yodbuangarm was determined to get back into the fight. Coming in close Yodbuangarm opened up with a sharp elbow, opening up a cut on the side of Attachai’s head. Both fighters started to trade punches and elbows, but Yodbuangarm was the sharper of the two, shaking Attachai up with some hard shots. Yodbuangarm threw another sharp elbow at the bell opening up another cut on Attachai’s forehead. In round 4 Yodbuangarm started the round looking to stay on the outside and score with roundkicks to the body. Attachai looked to trade kick, but Yodbuangarm was landing the harder, sharper shots. Attachai came forward in the final round looking to score a knockdown.Yodbuangarm, covered up and moved around the ring well, flicking out fast jabs and pushkicks to keep Attachai at bay and take the fight on points.
