All proceeds to benefit the families of New York firefighters who fell on
September 11th
Next month, a historical event will take place in the martial arts world as
three Muay Thai kickboxing legends gather in Manhattan, New York to educate
both newcomers and experienced practitioners in Thailand's sacred art and
beloved national sport.
7 time world Muay Thai champion, Coban Lookchaomaesaitong of New York, New
York via Buriram, Thailand will join forces at his Muay Thai camp based out
of Chau's Martial Arts Center in midtown Manhattan with fellow legends
Bunkerd Fairtex and Jongsanen Fairtex of San Francisco, California's Fairtex
Muay Thai Academy via Thailand to instruct a two-day Muay Thai seminar on
Saturday, October 13th and Sunday, October 14th.
Coban, a veteran of over 270 professional Muay Thai fights, captured his
first and second world titles at Lumpinee Stadium in 1985 and 1991,
respectively. A student of the art since the age of 11, Coban also lived and
trained in four of Thailand'sMuay Thai camps before he moved to the United
States in 1994. Both Bunkerd, a veteran of over 350 professional Muay Thai
bouts, and Jongsanen are three time world champions, including former
champions of Thailand's prestigious Lumpinee and Rajadamnern Stadiums.
The seminar will include an introduction to Muay Thai, including the art and
sport's history as well as an introduction to each champion, his background,
and achievements. Conditioning exercises and Thai pad drills led by the 3
legendary fighters will follow. Each champion will help those in attendance
become more familiar with his specialty techniques. Basic and advanced
fighting strategies will also be discussed and demonstrated by each fighter
during the event. The seminar will be moderated by world-renowned Muay Thai
judge and referee, Khun Fred Fitzgerald.
In the wake of the September 11th tragedy that struck Manhattan and
Washington D.C. and has affected the lives of every American, Coban and his
