Phil Fagan Fighter Analysis
Height: 6' 4"
Weight: 104kg
State: Victoria
Trainer: Kelly Seif
Strengths: Technical expertise, jab, lead leg roundkick
The Destroyer Phil Fagan hails from the United Kingdom. A former British heavyweight champion, Fagan lost only one of eight fights in the UK before moving to Australia.
Fagan now trains under the watchful eye of Kelly Seif at Seif's Gym in Mulgrave in Melbourne's outer east.
Under Seif, Fagan has become a heavyweight force in the Oceania region and is widely regarded as the most technically gifted fighter in the K-1 Oceania.
In 2000, Fagan reached the final of the K-1 Oceania tournament when he defeated towering Harry Munt by KO and Gurkan Ozkan by decision, only to lose to eventual champion Mark Hunt in the final.
Fagan returned to the ring in November for the Victorian K-1 Four Way Threat. There he disposed of Paul Robinson by decision and Chris Chrisopoulides by decision to win the contest and qualify for the K-1 Oceania 2001 Tournament.
On February 24 at the Crown Showroon, Fagan will square off against Peter Graham in the first quarter final of the K-1 Oceania.
The two have fought before when Graham defeated a flat looking Fagan at Melbourne's Empire Club. That was an off-night for Fagan who has vowed that a repeat will not happen.
Fagan will come into the ring in February in peak physical condition as the most ripped and buffed fighter in the K-1 Oceania. But muscles don't maketh the fighter. Heart, power and technical excellence does - and Fagan has plenty of each.
