Official K-1 Oceania News Service

HOOST WINS 3rd K-1

Dutchman Ernesto Hoost, dubbed as "Mr Perfect", won his third K-1 World Grand Prix Crown in Tokyo last night.

Hoost defeated New Zealand's "Sugar" Ray Sefo by decision in the final in front of 70,000 people at the Tokyo Dome.

Sefo defeated Japanese Star Musashi in the opening round and took care of business against Cyril Abidi in the semi-finals to reach the grand final match. Abidi was given two chances in the tourney. He lost to Peter Aerts in their opening quarter final but Aerts, also a three-time K-1 champion, was too badly hurt to take his place in the semi finals.

On the opposite side of the draw, Hoost defeated Mirko Filipovic of Croatia and Francisco Filho of Brazil to reach the final.

Hoost now becomes the highest paid kickboxer in history.
