Press Release for International Showdown 2001
World Championship Kickboxing comes back to the San Bernardino Fairgrounds
in Victorville, CA on April 14th at 7:30pm with a tremendous fight card
highlighted by Craig "The Bullet" Buchanan taking on the UKMTA champion John
Hale for the IKKC Intercontinental Middleweight Muay Thai belt. Direct from
the United Kingdom, renown British Muay Thai trainer, Sandy Holt brings his
champions over to challenge not only "The Bullet", but IKKC champions from
Japan, Sachiyo Shibata-World Flyweight Champion & Kaori
Koizumi-Intercontinental Featherweight Champion. WCK fans got to witness
both of these Japanese champions take out the United States champions last
year in the inaugural "International Showdown". Now Sachiyo Shibata must
face UKMTA champion Jussy Lowe who has been fighting against the best in
England and has her sights set on taking home her first world title belt.
Her stablemate, Vicky "Tricky" Roberts will do battle with Koizumi who has
honed her skills fighting in her homeland and looks to retain her title and
challenge for a world title later this year.
WCK fan favorite, William "The Bull" Sriyapai after losing a close decision
to IKKC World Champion BM Sasiprapa challenges CA champion Danny "No Play"
Brandt for his belt and looks to reverse his losing streak with a decisive
victory over the well conditioned Brandt. In the other professional title
bout, two local favorites lock horns in what promises to be a barn burner as
former amateur champion David Morrow takes on the comeback kid Brian Dobler
for the vacant IKKC CA Welterweight M.T. title.
The amateur portion of the card brings some of the top fighters from the
United States to vie for IAMTF United States & California title belts. The
main event features Van Nuys Muay Thai's top fighter Mitch Milat return to
the ring to take on the multiple champion Scott "Thunder" Thorson who is
looking at this fight as his last amateur tilt before turning pro.
Colorado's Josh Bendell reunited with his trainer Master Bob Chaney puts his
undefeated record on the line against a tough opponent from Dan Dunn's
stable in Oregon. Two highly anticipated female fights complement the above
mentioned fights as Two Tiger Gym sends out their latest female Muay Thai
stars Cynthia Mamaril & the undefeated Cynthia Blanco to do battle against
La Puente Muay Thai's Claudia Vidaurri & Crystal Williams.
Tickets are priced at VIP-$40, Ringside-30, General-$20 and Child
General-$10 and can be purchase via toll free phone at 877-446-7962 or at
ticket outlets listed on the poster.
Sandy Holt has commented that all his fighters are training hard 5/6 times a week and he has a good feeling about their chances.
