Mighty Mo wins K1 USA 2004
American powerhouse "Mighty Mo" Siligia was a surprise victor at Battle at the Bellagio III on Saturday 7th August.
Siligia won his first round beating the always impressive Belarussian Sergei Gur by unanimous decision, giving Gur an eight count from a right hand in the second round.
In the semi-final Siligia faced fellow American Scott Lighty after Alexander Ustinov withdrew due to injury. Siligia stopped Lighty in the first round, a big overhand right hand again causing the damage.
In the final Siligia faced Walis. Carter Williams, for many the pre-tournament favourite, was cleanly despatched by Walis in his opening bout and in the following semi-final, Walis cruised to a points victory over Sweden's Jorgen Kruth.
Siligia took his crown in the second round of the final after Walis stood toe to toe against him exchanging punches and then was caught by an overhand right.
