Mark Matthews vs Lee Cox
Mark Matthews will be fighting Lee Cox in Warrington on December 3rd. The following background information was provided by Neil Holden of the Warrington Kicboxing Studio
You can follow his (Mark "The Diamond" Matthews) career from step to step as he is definitely going to be a legend in the world of Kickboxing which in most educated peoples views that follow the world of Boxing ( The fastest depleting sport in the Western World - spectator wise ) and Kickboxing know without a doubt. I am not talking about tomorrow but maybe over the next decade, and it is these young gladiators aged 20 - 25 that will be the Superstars tomorrow.
The Diamond goes Head to Head on 3rd of December 2000 with Lee Cox. You know of The Diamond, but who is Lee Cox? Cox is the former undefeated British Welterweight Thai-Kickboxing Champion. No-one would fight him in his weight class. He eventually moved up to Middleweight ( Over 1 stone - 3 Weight Divisions ) to find opponents. He won some of these fights at British Championship Level, and then fought at World Championship level. He fought the undefeated British Middleweight Champion Ian Ledson in a World Title Eliminator. He lost, but it is the fact that it took this guy 5 rounds to stop him that is the great achievement listed. This guy was 3 divisions above Lee Cox.
His second to last fight was against Paul Sword ( Undefeated ) again at middleweight for the Commonwealth Title ( Half World Title ). It took this guy until the last minute of the last round to stop Lee. Lee has now moved down to the weight division where he reigned supreme. His last bout was at Light Welterweight and he lost on a Narrow points decision to David Parkinson the current European Champion. The Diamond has a tough tough fight.
He knows this as most will not approach Lee Cox unless they have a great size advantage.
The Diamond is the same size and intends to prove his true worth on a Level Field. Fireworks is the only adjective that can be used to describe this match.
