Richard Smith and Lisa Houghton win in Thailand
Lisa Houghton and Richard Smith fought on Tuesday 17th August in the new stadium in
Koh Samui having spent 2 weeks training in Bangkok at Jittis gym.
Smith fought a very experienced Thai called Sakasen from Surat Thani (about 230
fights). Saksen went for it with the elbows from round one and managed to cut Smith
early on on the nose.
By round two Smith was more settled and had the measure of him starting to get through Sakasen's defense with kicks to
the body.
Early in round 3 Smith caught him with a left hook to the body followed by a
left kick which dropped him and he failed to beat the count - a 3rd round win to Smith
The betting was 5-1 against Smith as Sakasen is known as an elbow specialist.
Houghton fought a girl also from Surat Thani called Narangnoi, who has quite a
name in Koh Samui. Narangnoi had won her last 5 fights by KO and has had over 30
fights. Houghton was in charge from round one though Narangnoi was a southpaw which took
some working out, but Houghton managed to get through with kicks and knees and
landed some good right hand punches to the head.
In Round 2 Houghton got through with a kick punch combination to the body which
caused Narangnoi to turn away. The bell saved her but Houghton continued the
pressure in round 3 and dropped her again with a straight right to the
body.
Lisa Houghton will be fighting for the WAKO-pro world title against Japanese star Asako Kamio on September 29th at Leeds Town Hall, England for further details see http://www.badcompany.co.uk
